June 17: Relief Updates

Another challenging month of full-scale war in Ukraine brought more destruction and despair to several communities across the front lines. With constant air raids and fear of occupation, our local volunteers continue supporting those in need with what little they have. This week, we are grateful to the international community for their continuous dedication to supporting the Ukrainian people.

- St. Thomas Aquinas Institute (Kharkiv Region). $1,200

We are proud to report that our combined efforts with the Fulbright Association Minnesota Chapter resulted in $700 raised for displaced children of the Kaniv community. The funds were used to cover the purchase of soccer balls and other games to help families and community members provide some playtime and relief from the torments of war–approximately 600 internally displaced children in the community of 25 villages around Kaniv were assisted here. The community is planning to host a summer camp soon, so they are telling us that these game and sport supplies are very timely! A huge thank you to the Fulbright community in Minnesota for “adopting” this cause and showing a great example to other communities and organizations.

If any individual or organization is interested in “adopting” one of our causes to lead fundraising efforts for a specific community or need, please reach out to us at gsynergygroup@gmail.com.

Additionally, Maksym and Olena have been busy managing and coordinating several procurements of medication and food for five communities in the Kharkiv and Kyiv regions. Most requested items remain canned foods, hygiene products, and summer clothes for children and adults. We are always impressed with Maksym and Olena’s ability to quickly navigate the complexities of logistics, searching, and securing the best prices while developing new partnerships!

- HRTC: Human Rights Training Center (Mykolaiv Region). $1,000

Mykolaiv is still coping with a lack of access to clean drinking water, while also facing air raid sirens almost daily. The funds sent this week were spent on the purchase of containers, filters, and reagents for water purification. Additionally, the money went towards purchasing food and hygiene products for a family in need who have not had access to any services or support for several weeks.

Total amount transferred to Ukraine to date is $129,050
